Congratulations on your upgrade, Ceres!

Please don't ram into us.

You know what's weird? I didn't hear until a couple of months ago that they finally decided where the Moon came from. I have never been so freaked in my life. "We got hit by another planet and you're standing on it." "Jesus!"

Well, when I was in school, we had all these theories and bad space paintings that basically added up to, "We dunno. Look! The Moon's got impact craters! Isn't that interesting and distracting?"

Then this Nova comes on with Planet Pinball and Earth getting blowed up and the Moon's stil retreating, and can I get a Holy Shit? Amen!

Amen!

[I'm the more *aaaaaarrrgh*-panicking type.]

Glad it's millions of years away anyway.

Apparently the deal now is that back in the day, this other, smaller, planet comes wandering in, George Pal style, rams into us, and knocks a big-ass chunk out which settles down to become the Moon. Other planet, whose name I forget, is mostly sucked into the Earth. Our iron core is an import.

Yeah, this sucks. Now everybody's gonna be, like, "I've always been a fan of Ceres," and those of us who were *really* into the Ceres fandom back before Ceres got big aren't going to get the respect we deserve and fucking amateur astronomy g00bs, ruining it for the rest of us.

Goddamn, all I have left now is Europa, and you just know the Titan crowd will slime their way in once they figure out their moon sucks.

That she'll ram into us? Not to my knowledge. But maybe, one day, when she's in the mood to do some planet-ramming, she'll remember this and go pick on Mars.

LOL No, I meant that she was a planet. I knew the new guidelines had been proposed but I didn't know they'd been accepted.

No idea. But I'm sure it's an honor just to be nominated.
