I was out in the car tonight, and noticed the upsurge in houses that decorate for Halloween. Orange fairy lights, figures in the yard, everything. Pretty much Christmas decorations with the green taken out. I learned that the principal difference between a light-up ghost and a light-up Virgin Mary is that, nine times out of ten, a light-up Virgin Mary will not be carrying a jack-o-lantern. If the figure has a black cat, it's probably a ghost, but it may be St. Francis. So don't make the call too quickly if something important is riding on your knowing.
