Dear Neal Stephenson:

960 pages for the upcoming book.

What, another 40 would've killed you?

Your pal,

Ann

You are on a roll today. Oh, also, the Dalek pattern is in this month's Cross Stitcher. I would be happy to scan you a copy if you cannot find a copy.

Ooo! Awesome, thank you. Let me have a look and see if my B&N still carries it - if so, it'll turn up in a month or two.

Snooping around their site, I found a David Tennant chart:

I'm scared now.

Um, that is . . .

disturbing. In a disturbing sort of makes my tummy flip unhappily sort of way.

Why can't we have a new Doctor? Why? Why? Why?

And Moffett turning down Tintin to run Doctor Who?

*sobs*

I'm surprised I didn't see it in the MediaWest art show. On a body pillow.

That isn't possible.

How are you feeling, Puke-chan?

I don't know. For some reason, I keep thinking his suicide note would never actually come to end...keeping him alive.

"Puke-chan"? Sadly appropriate, I guess. I'm doing better except for being absolutely wiped out of energy and wanting to collapse everytime I go out in the heat. But that last is just the normal reastion to Texas heat rather than recovery.

Yeah, if he'd gone another forty, he'd have to put an ending in there somewhere.

Usually his characters die of old age before he can really end the story.

I think he just can't write endings.

I mean, I really love his writing, but his books tend to end about as abruptly as a Buick slamming into a bridge abutment.

(I bet his wife is really good at the bench-press, because you know he falls asleep three seconds after he hits the climax...)

Stephen King does that -- writes unnecessary, tangential shit into his books just to get the page count up.

Maybe Neal Stephenson is a better writer and nothing that comes off his keyboard is unnecessary, tangential or shitty...

Food for thought.
