Let's be honest: Thursday night Bush sounded like a kid reciting the high points of fourth grade, or a challenged patient graduating to a new level in some kind of mental health rehab institution. No one could watch that and not be shaken by it. I've had my political disagreements with my friend Chris Matthews, but he summed it up really well: It was an abomination, the depiction of a world of presidents in which "every kid gets a trophy who participates."

I have to x-post this because it's just too horrifying to not proliferate.
Did you see Bill Frist's editorial in today's CNN? "Bush is a healer."

"He saved 10 million lives."

I shit you not.

It's long been my theory that Dubya was born borderline mentally retarded and that the drinking/drugs took about ten or fifteen more IQ points off that, so...yeah. And stuff.

I'm just glad that our President-Elect can put complete sentences together. I had to work hard not to yell "Fucker" every time Bush opened his mouth during the last eight years.

My mother, who was a hundred and fifty and a near-lifelong Republican, spent the last couple of years of her life shouting, "YOU BASTARD!" at the television whenever Bush appeared. There is no hate like old lady hate.

My parents watch Fox News (this is one of my tribulations in life), so as I was making toast last night I had the pleasure of hearing Bill O'Reilly declare that people on TV who are meeeeen to Bush "should be shunned." He also said, "I think he's done the best he could." To which I wanted to scream, yes, that's the problem: this was the best he could manage.

Lordy Moses. If I were somehow made President, I too would do the best that I could. So would a mentally challenged squirrel, a five-year-old, and David Letterman. This does not mean that any of us would be qualified for the job, though I'm pretty sure we'd all do a better job than Dubya.

There is now a squirrel pounding on my window, squeaking its indignance. I'm ignoring it.

I can't wait till the shitbag is gone, gone, gone. Also, how did I go eight years without ever hearing of this? Just when I think I can't be any more appalled by his character.

Oh, dear God, I'd forgotten all about that. I was even watching the next night, when they ran the clip. But after eight years of his bullshit, it all becomes a blur.
