Jul. 9th, 2009 08:54 amThe national reaction to Jackson's death was false and overblown, but it didn't hurt anyone. Moreover, at least Jackson could boast of actual achievements. But Sarah Palin's bizarre resignation is another story. Watching her self-serving, celebrity-driven implosion, it hit home more than ever just how terrifying it is that this person actually could have become vice-president of the United States.

Date: 2009-07-09 04:12 pm (UTC)Because it means that a large fraction of the GOP doesn't think she's a viable candidate. She could take the party nomination despite that because there's 50+% who do support her, and then we'd have an election race where a whole bunch of Republicans think their own candidate is terrible, thus practically guaranteeing a win for the non-terrible opposition.
(Man, these rose-colored glasses make everything look AWESOME. Would you like to borrow them?)
