Y'know, I'd think that the pointy end of those phones would really hurt.

I always knew you had excellent taste.

I remember seeing 1958's "The Perfect Furlough" at a drive-in on Cape Cod in the early 60's. That's probably the first thing I really remember him from.

Now I wanna watch "Some Like it Hot" and "The Great Race."

With maybe a side of "The Persuaders."

There are some who consider Some Like It Hot to be one of the Best Things Ever.

I would not disagree with them.

Stony Curtis was THE FIRST THING my mind went to when I heard the news. (Coincidentally, it is also the 50th anniversary of the Flintstones debut!)

One of my proudest collegiate achievements was talking an entire cafeteria table full of folks into seeing Some Like It Hot, then playing at the college film society, which they had planned to skip thinking it was Some Boring Old Black and White Movie. They all loved it. My then-roommate's shock that you could tell naughty sex jokes in old movies and get away with it was--just nobody tell her about Mae West, it might make her head explode.

I'm always amazed at the level of innuendo in old movies. And it's done well enough that it goes completely over a kid's head but never an adult's. Watching Cat People at age 8 and age 40 are very different experiences, though both awesome.

I'm still amused that in a golden age of Hollywood censorship they worked in a ten-minute scene of, "You're impotent? Oh you poor man, I can take care of that!"
