"Gateau" is French for "cake." It is a local restaurant - we may even have eaten there once.

I noticed this visit that, apparently out of self-defense, they have been forced to add a "Green Gateau" to the dessert menu. But we all got cheesecake.

Wouldn't it have been more reasonable to call the place Gateau Vert or Vert Gateau?

And what's with a green cake? I suppose it's something like blue cheese, but isn't really blue.

The Green Gateau itself was a small slice of cake with white dribbly icing, the icing in turn slightly marbelized with green. The actual flavor(s) remain a mystery. There are things Ann was not meant to know.
