Last week was the latest CustomCon over at Raving Toy Maniac (http://www.joeacevedo.com/docs/customzone/customcon/customcon11/index.htm). Some delightful stuff, as usual, but the ones that made me squeal were the José Chung and Monica Reyes block figures:

I'll repeat that. José Chung and Monica Reyes block figures!

Got a new batch of stuffy pictures developed over the weekend. I don't know what's up with the scans looking like they came out of the Sunday World-Herald. This time it's Kodak's fault, not mine. Anyway...

Here's Mickey Mouse from the vintage pattern off eBay. I weened out and didn't give him all the embroidered eyebags and wrinkles. I can always go back and add them later, should I feel the need. He's all wool felt, except for the two buttons, which are made of...button. He has a wire* armature inside and cardboard insoles, so he can stand alone. He is large enough to frighten a small child.

*"Wire" in this case being "a package of pipe cleaners I wanted to use up and braided into one big-ass wire."

Lorne. For some reason there is no green at all in this photo. Which is a shame, as the character is, as you know, green. So is the pillow behind him.

He's around 9 inches tall, made from the basic UFO pattern sold off randomfandom.com. His skin is acid-green sweatshirt fleece, turned inside-out, with acrylic paint spots. Shoes and cravat are some kind of plum synthetic lining. Suit is a rather nifty gold crinkly velourish thing that had to be edged with glue to stop it unravelling. Details and eyes are wool felt. Horns are the ends of styrofoam hearts, with paint. His hair is the same heinous fur used to make the Broken Carrott a while back.

I think [livejournal.com profile] nitasee owns him now.

Yay! I found another old IBM manual box. (For those of you who are two young, IBM/Microsoft/etc. used to pack their software manuals in really nice linen-covered slipcases, often with matching 3-ring binders.) I can make another DVD slipcase. This one looks like it will hold three or four.

Mikey Crawford posts an overview of The Simpsons toy line, with boggly photos.

A horrible picture, but I was pleased to have one turn up at all after Target's developing machine ate the last batch. Stan is made of black plaid flannel with near-dayglo pink, green, and blue stripes. His eyes are bright pink buttons. Wings, mouth, and feet are pastel wool felt. The wings are embroidered - alas, you can't see it in the picture. The round thing on his head is a purple pom-pom. He has soft-toned jingle bells in his feet. He's, oh, about yay big. *gestures*

Looking at Stan, I wonder if our house doesn't have some sort of toxic mold or gas leak.

The colors are actually pretty accurate in this picture. He's made of horrible blue fur, with details of wool felt. His pseudopods (is that the word?) have little jingle bells inside. Less than a foot across, if memory serves. Surprisingly snuggly.
