Sep. 1st, 2006 04:25 pmWater in the basement again last night. To no one's surprise, the roots grew back, as roots are wont to do. Had the plumbers in today, with their rotor thing. They seemed to enjoy themselves, if the singing was anything to go by. The machine made an odd sound, as though mice had installed a tiny duplicate of the Chicago El inside the house. I hope my Jake and Elwood toys finally felt at home, if only for a moment.
Plumber 1 likes Steinbeck, and kept asking Plumber 2 if he could pet the rabbits. Plumber 2, called Paul, grew up down the block near John the Comic Shop Guy. Plumber John Paul II also said that I could stop the roots growing back with a regular infusion of livestock salt. I asked where one might obtain livestock salt, since I haven't been outside the city limits, except via Northwest or United, in years. He named several cow-related merchants, none of which were familiar, so I asked Deb about it when I got back to work (her family all live out of town). Apparently one must go out to Toys R Us, but not take the right into TRU and instead keep a-drivin'. There one will find new and open vistas, including a fine view of the Cracker Barrell, and a store that, it is said, sells bovine acoutrements. I can't wait!
Besides, I haven't been to TRU in like a month.
