Water in the basement again last night. To no one's surprise, the roots grew back, as roots are wont to do. Had the plumbers in today, with their rotor thing. They seemed to enjoy themselves, if the singing was anything to go by. The machine made an odd sound, as though mice had installed a tiny duplicate of the Chicago El inside the house. I hope my Jake and Elwood toys finally felt at home, if only for a moment.

Plumber 1 likes Steinbeck, and kept asking Plumber 2 if he could pet the rabbits. Plumber 2, called Paul, grew up down the block near John the Comic Shop Guy. Plumber John Paul II also said that I could stop the roots growing back with a regular infusion of livestock salt. I asked where one might obtain livestock salt, since I haven't been outside the city limits, except via Northwest or United, in years. He named several cow-related merchants, none of which were familiar, so I asked Deb about it when I got back to work (her family all live out of town). Apparently one must go out to Toys R Us, but not take the right into TRU and instead keep a-drivin'. There one will find new and open vistas, including a fine view of the Cracker Barrell, and a store that, it is said, sells bovine acoutrements. I can't wait!

Besides, I haven't been to TRU in like a month.

Was one of them running a teeny little shell game on it?!?

Hrm. But what if the salt leaks out into your back yard and causes a biblical plague? Deuteronomy dude.

"...The machine made an odd sound, as though mice had installed a tiny duplicate of the Chicago El inside the house. I hope my Jake and Elwood toys finally felt at home, if only for a moment..."

In high-pitched, squeaky voices: "It's 106 feet to the sewer line, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses." "Hit it"

P.S.: Mightn't Tractor Supply Company, at 56th and Cornhusker have the salt of the cows? Or maybe not...

I ended up at someplace that was, indeed, in the unholy triangle at 56th and Cornhusker. It wasn't called Tractor Supply Company, but it did have rabbits and overalls.
