"For the first time on a 'Star Trek' series, we're going to be dealing with a mission to save Earth," Berman said in an interview with U.K. magazine Star Trek Monthly.

Rick Berman is full of shit! Read it at: http://www.nypost.com/entertainment/56675.htm

Oh! Apparently I haven't been hit on the head enough times to forget Star Trek IV, and the one about the Borg, and...

Four, I believe. The last one I paid money to see, and I'm still pissed about it.

Berman wouldn't recognize *real* Star Trek if it bit him on the ass.

He's why Star Trek has mostly sucked since third season TNG. And Brannon Braga, and the rest of their little coterie. Taken collectibvely, they have all the creativity of a piece of nasty gray cardboard.

I don't know, anything past about 4th season DS9 and Voyager was quite good.

Enterprise, though...

Put it this way. While superfluous nudity is a good thing, it is not a replacement for challenging plots and interesting characters or even continuity. If I want superfluous nudity I'll go pirate porn.

Ann, I love you. The wording of your subject line...it made me happy.

Amen, sister.

Well, he and Brannon Braga. The number of times they've said that they don't have to pay attention to any of the other Trek series because [insert Voyager or Enterprise here, depending on date of interview] is a different and new show.

Of course, the fact that Enterprise is supposed to predate and set up the events of everything that comes after, including the first contacts with a number of the species with which the Enterprise crew has inexplicably interacted...I could go on and on and on and on, but I won't as it would just bore everyone here and raise my blood pressure.

I am still in shocked and angry awe at the fact that Berman and Braga have effectively managed to make Scott Bakula (of all people) boring. I'd never have thought that possible.

There is absolutely no honest response that I can make to this that won't result in you beating the holy living shit out of me, so, uh, moving on...

Naw. You can hate him. You can think he's boring-always-has-been-boring-how-could-he-be-anything-other-than-icky-boring and that's totally fine. I despise him and the character in Enterprise because there's nothing redeeming about any of the above.

I sometimes wonder if the following is the kind of thought process:

"How can we get people to watch the show?"
"Good characters, stories, dialogue, and development?" (though I don't know who associated with this project would ever even think of that as a joke...)
"Naw. How about if we strip Scott naked?"
"That might work. Are you sure that's enough; that might only tet the girls, and you know how they're useless for ratings and advertising."
"What if we have Scott naked in decon and put Jolene and the Asian girl in there with him, also in their underwear and sweating?"
"That's it! And if that's not enough, we can have them rub one another's bodies with the decon goo..."

It's just..pandering and dreadful.

And then there's the way Berman and Braga insisted that the very things that made Capt'n Katie a raging psychotic loon who was a danger to herself and her crew were the reason she was a good captain even though she was a woman.

Nothing good to say.

JHC on a pogo stick! Is this guy for real?

Enterprise is crap. It really is. I think I watch it just so I can bitch about it.

I've seen maybe five minutes of it altogether, and even in fractional doses it makes me want to put out my own eyes with the Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne chopsticks I got at Epcot.
