I'm very pleased for you -- YAY! ::happy dance::

I'm also envious. The main show *I* want on DVD is the 12th-ranked show on that site that people want most, and its owners are still twiddling their thumbs. ::grumble:: Fucking Paramount Pinheads.

I was pleased to see that the pilot for Monk is out -- that hopefully means more episodes will follow.

I'm site-impaired. I can't find any ranking beyond the top 10. What's your show?

I wish I liked Monk more than I do, but it drives me batshit. Half the time when he straightens something I want to shriek NO THAT'S NOT RIGHT! and re-straighten it.

First, I have to say that the NRA is wrong, wrong, WRONG. It is Not Good for the average Joe to own big guns, or even small ones. And a waiting period is A Good Thing. I just had some asshole drive by here on some souped up motorcycle -- twice -- at about a million decibels sustained for about 30 seconds for maximum irritation, and I was seriously thinking If only I had a Really Big Rifle. Next time, I would take such great pleasure in sighting you down, you fucker, and blasting you right off that substitute for cojones you've got between your legs. DIE!!!!

But, you know, that was like five minutes ago, so I've calmed down a bit now. Still, I do have a residual, mild hope that a semi runs over his ass.

I'm site-impaired. I can't find any ranking beyond the top 10. What's your show?

No, you're not site impaired -- *they* are. You can only see the "shows most wanted on DVD" rating after you *vote* for a show. Dunno *what's* up with that. The current Dragnet is above #500 on the list -- they don't even bother to count that high. ::rather sheepish grin:: But, hey, it's coming out on DVD, and that's what matters. Their stupid rankings don't count for shit, really, although apparently the studio people who make these decisions are watching the site. But, anyway, I still have some vague hope that the Paramount Pinheads will stop dithering, pull their heads out of their asses, and put The Sentinel on DVD.

But, you know, of course they'll wait until I've moved on to something else, when it won't matter any more.

I wish I liked Monk more than I do, but it drives me batshit. Half the time when he straightens something I want to shriek NO THAT'S NOT RIGHT! and re-straighten it.

*snort* I feel your pain.

The thing about Monk is that it's totally the character interplay. The "mysteries" are pretty lame, but I love the characters. Unfortunately, as much as I admire Tony Shalhoub, I'm already seeing faint indications in only the second season that the characters could become caricatures. I hope they avoid that pitfall.

Wanna pop over and straighten all my pictures? :-)

Universal is trying to nurture it into the public eye.

You're well aware of my opinion of The Sentinel, so I'll just be quiet. In any case, a decent series release seems like such a complicated affair that I'm surprised they've ever bothered with anything beyond Buffy and XF. Except that apparently they're money-making endeavors once you get the damn things out.

Wanna pop over and straighten all my pictures? :-)

Not really.

Universal is trying to nurture it into the public eye.

Will DVD do that? I'm probably very wrong in figuring that people only buy DVD's of things they *already* like. That's no doubt just my budget-conscious habit talking. Now that I think about it, I know people in all of my social and familial circles who buy vidoes/DVD's of things they've never seen, if the price is right.

Hm. I had heard that in fact DVD was easier and more cost-effective than putting a series out on video, which is why I was told shows barely done with their first seasons are already showing up on DVD. (Maybe that's inaccurate.) And, of course, those of us who *do* like The Sentinel (and let me clarify that by saying I like the two main characters a lot more than 95% of the plots. It's one of those mostly-awful shows with some really great moments and a few good episodes. I've sustained an obsession on far less -- ST:TNG, for example, which I mostly despised after second season, but from which I loved a few of the characters for, you know, ten years) -- anyway, those of us who like the show (or one or two of the characters) have been asking for DVD's for 4 years or so while Paramount put, oh, Frasier on DVD. Not to knock Frasier -- clever show, but every person I know who's hooked on it is a mundane and just gazes at you blankly when you ask if they'll be buying the series on DVD. "Why?" they ask, perplexed.

I want my damn DVD's. Dammit.

And of course I totally understand despising a show that everyfan and her sister seems to adore, when you just wonder if their brains have somehow leaked out their ears. (Lessee: Blecch's 7, The Professionals, Stargate to some extent.) As opposed to the ones you just don't care for personally but aren't appalled that other people find them worthy of near-worship. Oh, yeah, baby, been *there*.
