Universal is trying to nurture it into the public eye.

Will DVD do that? I'm probably very wrong in figuring that people only buy DVD's of things they *already* like. That's no doubt just my budget-conscious habit talking. Now that I think about it, I know people in all of my social and familial circles who buy vidoes/DVD's of things they've never seen, if the price is right.

Hm. I had heard that in fact DVD was easier and more cost-effective than putting a series out on video, which is why I was told shows barely done with their first seasons are already showing up on DVD. (Maybe that's inaccurate.) And, of course, those of us who *do* like The Sentinel (and let me clarify that by saying I like the two main characters a lot more than 95% of the plots. It's one of those mostly-awful shows with some really great moments and a few good episodes. I've sustained an obsession on far less -- ST:TNG, for example, which I mostly despised after second season, but from which I loved a few of the characters for, you know, ten years) -- anyway, those of us who like the show (or one or two of the characters) have been asking for DVD's for 4 years or so while Paramount put, oh, Frasier on DVD. Not to knock Frasier -- clever show, but every person I know who's hooked on it is a mundane and just gazes at you blankly when you ask if they'll be buying the series on DVD. "Why?" they ask, perplexed.

I want my damn DVD's. Dammit.

And of course I totally understand despising a show that everyfan and her sister seems to adore, when you just wonder if their brains have somehow leaked out their ears. (Lessee: Blecch's 7, The Professionals, Stargate to some extent.) As opposed to the ones you just don't care for personally but aren't appalled that other people find them worthy of near-worship. Oh, yeah, baby, been *there*.
