I am thankful for one thing this week - unlike many, I have not been plagued with nightmares. Perhaps it's because recent events have combined pretty much every recurring nightmare I've ever had (we just need a faceless, knife-wielding killer, nuclear armaggedon, and a great deal of confusion regarding final exams and nudity to complete the package), freeing up my subconscious for more abstract visions.

Or I'm just too damn tired.

I'm not sure that a nightmare wouldn't be an improvement. At least, when I wake up, it's not real. Instead, my dreams are just replays, over and over again, of the news stories.

Terrible night's sleep last night. I wish I could just sleep and sleep, but I can't stop listening to the news.

I only had the replays that first night, and I don't think I could call them nightmares, my brain was running in 'process' mode. Nightmares grab me and keep me prisoner and my brain doesn't quite work right and I can't wake up. I was somehow able to think during these and could have woken up, but I didn't feel a need to. I was somehow aware that waking up wouldn't get me away from it, I think.

I've been too tired to dream lately. That I can remember. The worst nightmare I ever had was years ago after watching a special on Nuclear War O.o
