Brown, as it turns out, is a handsome copper color when clean. (The same as Chomsky Sauron, for those of you who've met her.) Two bags of stuffing later, he is twice as fluffy, weighs half as much, and now has - who knew? -- a pointy snout and an actual butt. There is some seam strain damage at the feet and paws, which will have to be patched. I'm not sure what I'll do about his missing eye. I'd like him to have a monocle, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I'm making him a nightshirt and cap in bright blue.

White seems to feel better about the whole business, seeing his friend revitalized, but I'm still not looking forward to slicing him open.

I think you're on to something. It doesn't actually have to have a lens at all, though that would be nice. Something like a brass macrame ring might work. I can just stitch it to his little head. Big head.

I'm thinking ribbon rather than chain.

If the point of the monocle is to cover the missing eye, you wouldn't want a lens anyway, right?

Nah. It doesn't need to cover it. It's a style thing.
