New alarm clock. Makes bird sounds rather than stabbing me in the head with a big knife.

Quality of life significantly improved for $13. Actually I bought it with a gift certificate, so $0.

I used to have (well, I still have, but it - I nearly typed "she" - no longer works as an alarm clock.) A very large Korean clock shaped like Chibi Eternal Sailor Moon, complete with huge plastic wings and a clock face set in her crotch. She'd play a beeping computerised version of the theme song very, very, very loud, shrieking "Wake up!" at frequent intervals. *No one* could sleep through it. Very satisfyingly, the only way to shut her up was to bash her over the head. Unfortunately, instead of shrieking in angony, she'd shrill "Good morning!", but you can't have everything.

Best clock ever.

I actually considered one of those, but the idea of finding it on eBay and waiting for delivery was too great a strain on my mental health. I was at the point where I've been waking myself at 6:50 so I don't have to hear the alarm.
