New alarm clock. Makes bird sounds rather than stabbing me in the head with a big knife.

Quality of life significantly improved for $13. Actually I bought it with a gift certificate, so $0.

*pleased face*

Hey, I like the sound of that--a birdie alarm clock. I know you must be amazed. *g*

Thank you for the linkage! I might have to finagle one of those, indeedy.

I eliminated the concept of the alarm clock from my life by deciding I would wake up naturally for anything I was meant to attend. Apparently fate has decided I should not be anywhere before 10 am.

Lucky you. I have been known to wake up at 3 p.m.

Clearly fate intended you to either work nights or be a trust fund brat ;)

Probably with mine - those blind dingbats gave them to the Hilton sisters. So uncool.

Coolness!

My alarm makes fake-sounding electronic versions of New Age-y chimes and flutes and stuff. Not terrible, but, no, Mr. New Age Alarm, I *don't* need the volume to increase with each repetition. I just can't move that fast.

So birdies might be a pleasant change.

Also, the current alarm clock has a "sample" button to play all the alarms. It cannot be deactivated and so the cat activates it occasionally (by accident) when she walks on the clock. My old kitty, Lovebug, started to do that by accident. Then she would do it deliberately so that I would get up and (eventually) feed her.

I used to have (well, I still have, but it - I nearly typed "she" - no longer works as an alarm clock.) A very large Korean clock shaped like Chibi Eternal Sailor Moon, complete with huge plastic wings and a clock face set in her crotch. She'd play a beeping computerised version of the theme song very, very, very loud, shrieking "Wake up!" at frequent intervals. *No one* could sleep through it. Very satisfyingly, the only way to shut her up was to bash her over the head. Unfortunately, instead of shrieking in angony, she'd shrill "Good morning!", but you can't have everything.

Best clock ever.

I actually considered one of those, but the idea of finding it on eBay and waiting for delivery was too great a strain on my mental health. I was at the point where I've been waking myself at 6:50 so I don't have to hear the alarm.

Indeed.

I also approve of your mental response to the bank lady...and think you should USE it on the next well-meaning whoever (especially the part about the insurance companies). *hugs*

Oh, cool! My roommate has one that makes a noise like church bells. Really loud church bells.

As for my alarm, it's the standard beeping noise. But I've started to block it out by now. These days it doesn't start to wake me up until around the fourth or fifth time I hit snooze. Even after that I abuse the snooze button a little further.

I don't know if I'd like church bells or not. I supose it'd depend on the tone.

I have never been able to get used to the beep. It's just not going to happen. (I also have to keep the clock out of reach, so I can't hit the snooze button.)

Well, it must not make lovebird sounds, because Christ knows the sweet voice of those little bastards is like an icepick to the ear.

Not that I'm bitter because I have a lovebird who enjoys screeching directly into my aural canal or anything.

You...you know not to reach over and blindly punch the snooze button on the bird, right? Right?

Now I'm wanting different sounds. Foul-mouthed parrot. Hyperactive terrier. Martian Fighting Machine heat ray.

Yeah, there was a girl who lived on my floor in residence who had one of those clocks. I should really buy one. It's an awesome idea.
