Tell me about this Mike Oldfield guy. I *think* the title of that album is a phonetic spelling of the Irish Gaelic word for "fool", "amadan" (which should have an accent over the final a).
No idea about 'amadan' -- it could easily be the case. There's not much in the liner notes beyond some technical stuff. It's a fab album, though. M.O. is best known for Tubular Bells, excerpts of which were used in The Exorcist. I really don't know much about him, apart from liking his music. I'm a bad, bad fan.
Also, I didn't get a chance to thank you for the balloons. So: Thank you for the balloons! They're keen. ^_^
Mike Oldfield also has a nice album called "Voyager" which is kind of Celtic. His "Songs of Distant Earth" is one of my top ten favorite albums. Sample some of the songs and see what you think.
"Songs of Distant Earth" arrived last week, and I spent a happy Sunday with it. I'm considering "Voyager," though the burly man on the cover kind of puts me off.
My more detailed LP booklet says "Asked about the title, he'll explain that it's one of the words written by Clodagh Simonds for her chanting one Side One [of the album], "and I think that it all means something backwards."
I think it means that Mike Oldfield is a sloppy researcher.
