I've always wondered if the title of this manga plays better in Japanese. "Saint Tail" just sounds a bit rude. It's the last word. I just reeks of innuendo.
By the way, I especially like the stained-glass clock background. Very cool.
It's for her ponytail. Considering the current vogue for angel motifs in manga and anime, we should be glad she's not Heavenly Tail or Angelic Tail.
Meimei, yer main character, is 14 and in Catholic school. Her best buddy is a classmate and nun-in-training who, despite being far too young to be allowed any serious vowage, let alone the uniform, often wears a full white habit and hears confession. I think the writer/artist picked her setting because she thinks the outfits are cool.
Verisimilitude levels are low, even for shoujo manga. Sailor Moon is kitchen-sink drama compared to this.
