I'm feeling perfectly foul and panic-attacky, so here's everyone's favorite LJ cliché photo post, the book and video shelves! Yayayayay! *Kermit flail*

Apologies for the yellowing and blurriness. cut to spare your flists and connections )

Woke up this morning to laundry room floor with a quarter-inch or so more water on it than I generally prefer. Cleared space. Re-sorted laundry. Hoping to find a cause at some point. Also hope rain will stop so I can take soaking braided rug outside to dry, or at least decompose in the outdoors.

Car has thrown shoe. More precisely, thrown an axle boot. I have no idea what that is, but it is being fixed, along with the dead headlamp. I only took it in for an oil change. God thinks he's funny.

Watched most of Millennium Season 2 over the weekend. That, my friends, is some damn good TV. You get Charles Nelson Reilly as José Chung vs. a cult that's nothing like Scientology, Darren McGavin as Frank Black's dad, Mary Magdalene in junior high, assorted demons and devils, an angel or two, flesh-eating bacteria, the earwormiest pop music accompanying wonderful torture and murders, and a really crappy painting by Hitler. Best Buy's got it for $19.99 right now, and it's well worth having. (The only disappointment is the godawful extras and commentaries. A Morgan and Wong show, but no Morgans or Wong at the party, not that one can blame them.)

Made Tommy a strange hat, and finished her Comet the Wonder Horse sweater. Alas, last week I heard the dreaded Obitsu Snap!, and had to send off for a new part to fix her. She keeps giving me the whole "Oh God...I can't feel my legs..." thing, then acts all pissy when I point out her lack of a nervous system. Disassembling her and doing a spinal transplant should be fun. For me at least.

Hello. Stuff happens, but not so good with make typey typey. Is brain wear.

Got a digital camera last night. So far I have learned how to put in the batteries, insert the memory card (Wow! It's like paying $30 for a postage stamp!), and turn it on and off. Oh, and sort of take pictures, albeit orange ones, but they disappear when the camera turns off. So that's the next thing to work on. It has a swell close-up macro thing, so I can photograph tiny toys. And apparently, video. Also it was on sale.

The last one I used was much easier, because I took a picture, gave the camera back to Sharon, and she did everything else.

Sewing stuff for the goddamn doll. Nothing much to show yet -- stuff's finished, but we're kind of low on coordinates. I'm very pissed, because she can get better sneakers than I can, for much less money. The black faux-Converse knee-high boots are fantastic. Yesterday I sent off for a pair of brown and gold brocade hi-tops. For her. Little bitch.

On the other hand, her pre-made clothing costs a good deal more than mine, whereas a half-yard of silk on the remnant table can be had for a buck, so...sewing.

Brisco County, Jr. remains the awesomest thing that ever awed. Bowler's assertion in the last episode that they'll be back after a brief hiatus still hurts, dammit. I still remember a phone conversation with Charlene:

"I didn't get to see it. I think we taped it."
"I hope you did. It had Pirates. And quicksand. And a whipping."
"Quicksand? Oh, my God!"
"Quicksand! Swear to God. When's the last time you saw a show with quicksand?"
"Pirates? Really? Pirates?"
"Pirates! It was like every show from when we were little squoze down into an hour."
"Quicksand..."
"Yeah. Really, all it needed was a tarantula going up somebody's arm."
And then, I swear, I can hear the expression on her face get that little devious grin thing it used to get. "And a gorilla," she said.
"Oh God, yes!"

If Lost had been made in 1969, there would be so...much...quicksand. The Black Rock would be full of pirates. And the polar bear would fight a gorilla. In quicksand.

After enduring [livejournal.com profile] heykidzcomix' incessant nagging*, I found the Brisco County DVD set last night. Watched the pilot with commentary. I am a better human being now.

Mom had a giant girlcrush on Dixie Cousins, and it's hard to blame her. She also always felt it necessary to point out that Brisco's dad was buried on a hill "for the drainage," then cackle like a fiend. Strange woman.

So far, the best thing is learning that the Rocket Car was a functioning vehicle that could shoot 30-foot jets of flame. Carlton Cuse volunteered to ride it back to the roundhouse after shooting, which must surely have been the best thing ever.

*She said, "Hey, did you get it?" The NERVE!
