Have decided that my recent spate of sleeping 15 hours a day when allowed is not a good thing, and am attempting to cut my Zoloft by 25%. (This figure arrived at because I take two pills which are scored down the middle.) After an afternoon of feeling rather crawly and awful, yet unable to nap (I read), I am now coming off a few hours of being very very awake. With luck this will wear off completely around 11:00 p.m.

Mom's birthday tomorrow. I long ago mastered the ability to keep it from being traumatic and awful, and now occasionally even manage to make it an occasion she enjoys. Learning that she really digs the grocery store bakery's white cake with the fake icing was definitely a step forward.

Is cutting the Zoloft the answer? Nice cup of decaffeinated cocoa?

No idea, but trying can't do any harm. Um...not in July, but thanks.

Worry ye not, fair Larimer, for the pills are purple, a lovely, lovely shade of purple.

I say thee nay! For the samples vouchsafed unto me by the Physic McMullen were scarlet in countenance, the very Devil's own shade.

O, protect yourself, for I fear that McMullen is an ass, and a fool, and a prating coxcomb! Physic Weiss hath to me given pills of finest lesbian lavender: I take them each day as the sun rises and am no worse for wear -- other than the fact that I'm talking like this. *g*

FIE UPON THE AND THY POXY SERVANT WEISS!!! I shall brook no slur upon the memory of the most sainted Wee Bruce the Fair, late of this parish! For truly he was the tiniest and most portable of physicians.

Now, alas, I must content myself with the services of the knowledgeable Coffman, he of the foully-decorated waiting-room. He is a knave who refuses to relinquish possession of his Prozac coffee mug, though ownership of it would surely cleanse me of many foul humours. Yet I bide my time, and accept his tiny illegible scripts, and make plans of my own to gain this treasure.

I was on Zoloft in high school and used to sleep about that much, too. On the one hand, it was nice not to be angst, but on the other, it sure didn't endear me to my friends whenever I'd be sleeping when they'd call to make plans.

This has started in the last couple of months, so I'm taking it as an indicator that a cut in dosage, or possibly going off the stuff, might be in order. We'll see what happens.

Talk to doctor about switching to something else; it's probably not the right thing for you. These days, I take Celexa, and the worst it's given me is a weird sweet-icky feeling in my mouth and a slight tremor that lasts for about two hours every day for about 2-3 weeks when there's a change in dosage. HOREY

HOREY?

I will talk to him. I'll probably have to go in for my tweaking in a month or so, so I figured this would be a good time to try and report any positive or negative outcomes.

There's even the outside possibility it's time to give the stuff up, but cutting it off cold turkey would be very bad.

I'm betting there's a lot of twitching and crying involved.

Oh, is there ever! Let's see... moods changing like every five minutes (no, really, every five minutes), weird dizzy-spinny-lightheaded feeling with movement, weird reactions from people... what fun! The culmination of that week was me waiting for three hours in the cold/snow while my friends went to see Pulp Fiction which I, for some reason, refused to go into because I got angry for some really dumb reason, like I wasn't spoken to with a gentle-enough tone of voice or something.

Maybe you should talk to your doctor. Messing with dosages can be ungood sometimes. *frets*

Don't worry, l'il Ahli!!! We've discussed it. He expressed surprise that I've never felt the inclination. I expressed surprise that he's never disposed of that horrible picture in the waiting room.

For some reason, Zoloft never made me massive sleepy. Or maybe I never noticed because not being a morning person, I'm never wakey-wakey in the a.m. On the other hand, I only get about 6 hours sleep a night unless it's the weekend. On the weekends, I never get out of bed before 9 or 10. The one thing it did do was make me gain weight which supposedly it's doesn't do. Supposedly.

I have managed to go down from 2 tablets a day to one. I can't imagine going cold turkey. I did for about 3 days, and had a meltdown. I was also physically sick and felt dizzy and like the world was unlevel. Not going down that rabbit hole again.

It didn't until recently, which is why I'm thinking an adjustment is in order. I have no problem with sleeping late, just not sleeping all! the! time!
