I learned that for the past 40 years, I have been holding my fork incorrectly. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to anyone I have ever eaten with.

Wool felt (not crappy craft felt) is lovely to work with. I made a red-and-gold ball last night (it will eventually be a Soviet satellite) using a pattern from an old Dover book. It's as round as round can be. I can make a Gema when I've found the right yellow.

Finished Hello Treebeard. Mom said, "Is that the log that the Log Lady carries around?" "Yes. Yes, it is."

Hm. Log...

It's still in print at a reasonable price, and available used (in Dover's usual bulletproof binding) for even less:

The ball pattern I used is six pieces. There's also one in four pieces (not as round, the author warns) and (I think) eight pieces. I did the six-piece ball traced straight from the book, and the end result is about the size of a cantaloupe or biggish grapefruit.
