Embroidered on pancake mix bag, mostly variegated thread. I stabbed myself but good in the finger at one point, but the bloodstain is hidden under the Arctic Ocean.

Animated strip club neon. This is one of the few extant bits of neon from my childhood, and instills feelings of both nostalgia and repulsion now. As far as I can tell, it is never turned off.

[livejournal.com profile] nitasee likes pictures of ghosts -- old painted walls of advertising that have fallen into disrepair. Got this for her at lunch today:

Click to embiggen. Former typewriter store on 11th Street, now a YMCA and condos. Painted at eye level, about the size of a movie poster. We used to go there for Smith-Corona cartridges and adding machine tape. It shared a block with Trade-A-Tape (the comics store, still in business a couple blocks away, and better than ever) and the legendary Dirt Cheap (renamed Twisters in the Eighties, bought by the Homers chain, no longer part of Downtown at all).

Also, if you accidentally hit the photo button while you're putting your phone away, cool stuff can happen:

But usually it doesn't.

Apologies for the heinous picture. The camera insisted that the focus be the bag of Reese's Pieces behind him. As always, click for more biggery.

He's approximately 1" x 1" x 2", made of wool felt and buttons, and pellet stuffed to keep him from flying across the room.

(cliquez-vous pour more biggerness)

Red Heel socks (they come in blue as well as brown), microfleece dishtowel uniform, wool felt details. Rag and poly stuffed for weight. The background is the perfectly revolting Lansing Days Inn, which, I am happy to say, we were able to vacate after the first night. I tried to straddle the Nimoy-Quinto line with the face.

Not technically a Christmas toy, Doris is a sock doll I finished...um...New Years-ish? She's 4 or 5 socks, plastic safety eyes, a flaming orange bridal applique up one leg, some pompoms, and a strip of fake fur. Oh, and buttons. Several of her parts are from the amazing Stupid Sock Creatures book -- find it on Amazon, or visit stupidcreatures.com and take a gander at the gallery.

Doris, Pointy Dog (by Uglydoll, added collar and badge) and Sharkey. They live on the sofa. details )

The amazing Supergirl, from [livejournal.com profile] crantz. She's a bit yellow in the photo, since there aren't green bulbs for the overhead light in the dining room. Yet.

ETA: Wait. That's the bathroom, with the tile. It does have green bulbs, but they're outnumbered.
